Registration Terms and Conditions

Organization of the IUBMB–FEBS–PABMB Congress 2022

FEBS, IUBMB and PABMB have appointed the Portuguese Biochemical Society (SPB) to host the IUBMB–FEBS–PABMB Congress 2022 (the "Congress"), supported by the Congress Secretariat, Alive Travel. Alive Travel is responsible for organizational aspects of the Congress for participants. On registering for the event, participants (also referred to as "you") are entering an agreement with Alive Travel. By registering to the Congress, you are indicating your acceptance to the terms and conditions set out below.

Registration Fee

All participants must register via the online registration system. Registration Fees for different categories of Congress participant are shown on the Registration page here.

Registration Fee for Participants includes:

• Abstract handling
• Admission to all scientific sessions
• Entrance to poster & exhibition area
• Lunches and coffee breaks
• Name badge, and program booklet if requested
• Congress bag
• Invitation to Welcome Reception

Registration Fee for Accompanying Persons includes:

• Entrance to poster & exhibition area
• Half-day City Tour in central Lisbon
• Invitation to Welcome Reception

Travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the registration fee.

Methods of Payment

Payments can be made via credit card or bank transfer. Payment must be made before the stated deadline that applies to your application. Payments must be made in euros; no other currency will be accepted.

Payment via Credit Card

Visa or Mastercard are accepted for credit card payments, which can be made online during the registration process. Confirmation of your credit card payment, along with registration confirmation, will be made available immediately after payment by an on-screen message and via an email. If you do not receive such a confirmation, nor a payment failure notice, please contact the Congress Secretariat.

Payment via Bank Transfer

All fees should be paid in EUR (€), free of all bank charges. Participant’s Name/Last Name and Congress Name (as IUBMB–FEBS–PABMB 2022) must be indicated on the transaction receipt of the bank transfer. Following the payment, receipt of the transaction must be sent to the Congress Secretariat. If you do not receive confirmation of your payment within 14 business days after the payment, please contact the Congress Secretariat. Bank transfer should be made to the following:  

Payments by bank transfer will only be possible until 15 June 2022. After this date, registrations can only be made with credit card payment. No cash payments can be accepted at the venue registration desk.

Final Invoice

The final invoice will be provided to the participants only upon request; the Secretariat will not send this document automatically. The final invoice will be issued based on details provided while registering (invoice details). Any change of such details (address, VAT number etc.) is possible only within 3 days from payment date and is subject to a 20 EUR fee.

Registration Cancellation & Refund Policy

All registration cancellation requests should be sent to the Congress Secretariat in writing by e-mail to lisbon2022@alivetravel.com. For registration cancellation requests received by Alive Travel:

• Until 12 April 2022, for FEBS bursary, IUBMB bursary and Sprinzl scheme registrants only – a full registration fee refund will be given if requested if the registrant fulfilled the eligibility criteria and is not accepted into one of these support schemes. 
• Until 12 April 2022 – 50 EUR administrative fee will be deducted from all other registration fee refunds. 
• From 12 April to 8 June 2022 – 50% of the registration fees will be refunded.
• All refunds will be processed within 30 days after the Congress ends.   
• From 9 June 2022 – no refund will be given.

Cancellation of other bookable items:

• Until 8 June 2022 – 20 EUR administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. 
• From 9 June 2022 – no refund will be given.

Travel Insurance

You must not attend the Congress if you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or are required to place yourself in quarantine. You should seek and follow the advice of your government before booking travel and accommodation for the Congress and before travelling to the event. You are solely responsible for making your own appropriate travel and other insurance arrangements before booking travel and accommodation for the Congress. FEBS, IUBMB, PABMB, SPB and Alive Travel shall not be liable to you for any losses incurred as a result of travel restrictions being placed against you or against certain countries due to COVID-19. By accepting these terms and conditions, you agree to abide by any COVID safety regulations in Portugal, Lisbon, hotel accommodation and the Congress venue.

Modification and Cancellation of the Congress

The Congress organizers are intending to run the Congress as a physical event, but if the organizers decide at any time that it is not possible to continue with a physical event due to pandemic or other such restrictions, the Congress may be held wholly or partly as an online meeting.  The Congress organizers reserve the right to modify the Congress programme, which is published as an indication only.

If the physical and virtual Congress is cancelled we will refund you the registration fee. We will only cancel the whole Congress as a result of circumstances outside of our reasonable control, including (but not limited to) pandemic, natural disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire or closure of airports.

Neither IUBMB nor FEBS nor PABMB nor SPB nor Alive Travel shall be held liable for any other costs or losses incurred.

Disclaimer

The Congress organizers take all reasonable care in making arrangements, and shall follow all available guidance from the Portuguese government in relation to making the Congress COVID-19 safe. The Congress organizers act only as agents in securing hotels, transport and travel services, and shall in no event be liable for acts or omissions in the event of injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity of any kind whatsoever during arrangements organized through contractors. Hotel and transportation services are subject to the terms and conditions under which they are offered to the general public.

In the absence of any negligence or other breach of duty by IUBMB, FEBS, PABMB, SPB or Alive Travel, these parties shall not be responsible for any bodily injury, illness, death or property damages (including theft) sustained by participants during the Congress.

In any event, neither IUBMB nor FEBS nor PABMB nor SPB nor Alive Travel accept liability for damages or costs in the event of bodily injury, death, property damage, illness, disruption to travel plans and costs incurred as a result of events outside of the reasonable control of IUBMB, FEBS, PABMB, SPB or Alive Travel, including (but not limited to) pandemic, natural disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire or closure of airports.

Governing Law

Any dispute resulting from the above terms and conditions will be subject to Portuguese law, and by accepting these terms you are submitting yourself to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal.
