YSF Programme

Overview

The 2022 IUBMB–FEBS–PABMB Young Scientists’ Forum (YSF 2022) will start on Wednesday July 6th, 2022 with a tribute to Professor Claudina Rodrigues-Pousada, a key figure in the development of the FEBS YSF, and a lecture from Professor Bruno Correia on ‘Expanding the landscape of functional proteins by computational design’, followed by a welcome reception.

On the following days, the scientific programme will include lectures from our other keynote speakers: Professor Franck Martin on ‘Viral and cellular translation during SARS-CoV-2 infection’, Professor Rohit Pappu on ‘The biophysical principles of biomolecular condensates’, and Élyse Fischer, the winner of the inaugural IUBMB Whelan Young Investigator Award. Importantly, all the participants will also have the opportunity to present their research as oral and/or poster presentations.

In addition, during the meeting we will have a session on fellowships opportunities from different organizations, for the progression of careers in science, as well as practical exercises on key skills such as CV preparation, writing a scientific abstract, and public engagement in science (see the career speakers here).

Over the course of the YSF, the participants will have the opportunity to get to know each other and broaden their professional network. There will also be a chance to meet FEBS Long-Term Fellows attending the 5th FEBS Fellows Meeting, who will join us for keynote lectures, coffee breaks, and social events that include a dinner and party on the last night of the meeting.

The YSF will close on Saturday July 9th, 2022, when, after the announcement of the award winners, we will travel to the Lisbon Congress Centre to attend the IUBMB-FEBS-PABMB 2022 Congress.
